The “Magic of Watercolor” exhibition has opened in the small hall of the art gallery, featuring graphic works from the collections of the Naberezhnye Chelny Art Gallery named after G.M. Khakimova and the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The exposition brings together works by various authors — both recognized masters and contemporary artists of Tatarstan and Russia. This allows viewers to see how differently artists reveal the potential of the material: some focus on lyricism and lightness, while others emphasize complex layering and graphic clarity. A wide range of watercolor techniques is shown: from classic glazing to bold “wet-on-wet” experiments.
The exhibition reveals the versatility of watercolor: here you can find airy landscapes, delicate floral studies, and expressive urban sketches. The exposition allows one to feel the multifaceted nature of the genre. Landscapes of various corners of our country are shown in the works of Baki Urmanche, Sergey Andriaka, Yuri Rybyakov, Sergey Kuzmin, Alexey Krotov, Daria Smolina and Oksana Dovgun. Artists interpret the still life genre in different ways: there are color-saturated compositions — these are the works of Alexander Ponikarov, Viktor Semykin, Lima Bukina, Gulnaz Adgamova, Olga Novozhilova, and compositions with a restrained palette by Riyat Mukhametdinov, Lilia Mustafina-Khazieva. Portrait images are presented in watercolors by Tatyana Nizamova.
The exhibition is designed for both art connoisseurs and those who are just discovering watercolor. Its goal is not just to show beautiful paintings, but to encourage the viewer to think about the possibilities of the technique, to see it not only as a means for a sketch, but as a full-fledged artistic language.
Young people aged 14 to 22 can visit the exhibition for free using the Pushkinskaya karta as part of the “Youth and Children” national project.
The exhibition runs until August 23 inclusive.
