Student of Lyceum No. 78 named after A.S. Pushkin Vladislav Shevelev has become one of the finalists of the historical and cultural contest "Tarkhan". Participants compete for the right to enroll in the Kazan Federal University (KFU) in the "History of Turkic Peoples" program at the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies.
In the anniversary fifth season of the educational TV project, which received a record 600 applications, 40 history experts from various regions competed for the title of the best. Following the intense televised competition, Kazan school student Amirkhan Iskhakov became the winner of the intellectual marathon, while Rashid Aibetov and Aigul Khaertdinova took second and third place respectively.
All six finalists, including Vladislav, received priority admission to the KFU institute. As a reward for nine months of diligent preparation, the Ministry of Culture of Tatarstan gifted the students a two-day excursion tour of the republic's historical sites, including the Kazan Kremlin, the "Elifba" museum, and the birthplace of Gabdulla Tukay – the village of Kyrlay.
"Tarkhan" is an educational contest and TV game created in 2021 by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan and KFU. The project aims to support gifted children and popularize the history of Russia, including the traditions, culture, and literature of Turkic peoples.
Over five years, thanks to this initiative, dozens of schoolchildren from districts of Tatarstan have become students in specialized fields and have realized their interest in history through various professional projects in youth diplomacy, archaeology, local history, and tourism.
