More than 600 events and 405 veterans: how Naberezhnye Chelny is preparing for May 9

Today, during the staff meeting, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee Viner Kharisov spoke about the preparation and celebration of the 81st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. There are 405 Great Patriotic War veterans and persons equated to them living in Naberezhnye Chelny. The youngest of the veterans is 98 years old, and two Chelny residents are 100 years old.

On the eve of the holiday, all veterans were provided with gift food baskets on behalf of the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. Every month, jubilarians are presented with personal greeting cards on behalf of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Rais of Tatarstan. On May 7, a republican solemn event will be held in Kazan with the participation of Rustam Minnikhanov; on the same day, Mayor of the city Nail Magdeev will honor veterans in Naberezhnye Chelny. A visit to the hospital for veterans is scheduled for May 8.

More than 600 commemorative events have been organized in the city's educational institutions, including the city contest "Best Sentry of Post No. 1", the large-scale game "Zarnitsa 2.0" with the participation of more than 1,500 schoolchildren, the "Singing Chelny" festival, and the "St. George Ribbon", "Hero's Star", and "Candle of Memory" campaigns. School media studios are broadcasting the "One Day on the Home Front" and "Children of War" projects. Additionally, a contest for the best museum exhibition will be organized for schoolchildren as part of the "Heroes of the Fatherland" project.

This year, the "Immortal Regiment" campaign will take place in new formats: city residents can place a veteran's photo on "Walls of Memory", as an avatar on social networks, on clothing, or on a personal car.

On April 28 at 08:10, the "Victory Locomotive" will arrive at the railway station. These are platforms displaying military equipment from the Great Patriotic War. A concert program is planned as part of the event. The train will depart on the same day at 10:50.
