Almaz Miftakhutdinov, Head of the 15th Fire and Rescue Squad of the Federal Fire Service of the Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan, reported on additional measures to ensure fire safety during the spring-summer fire hazard season of 2026.
Today, a special fire safety regime is in effect in the republic. With the arrival of warmth and the melting of snow in 2026, the threat of fires involving dry vegetation, which can ignite even from the "lens" effect of broken glass, has increased. Due to the snowy winter, the first incident this season was recorded later – on April 15 compared to March 30 the previous year; however, by April 22, seven fires had already been registered. In conditions of dry and windy weather, residents need to be particularly vigilant to prevent new fires.
An important point in spring is the beginning of the dacha season. Burning last year's debris and grass often leads to the ignition of structures on garden plots. Dry vegetation can easily ignite from an unattended campfire, an unextinguished cigarette, or an accidentally dropped match. This poses a real threat to the life and health of citizens and leads to material damage. During the fire hazard period last year, 44 fires occurred, two dacha houses burned down, one person was rescued, and two people were injured.
During the fire safety regime, it is prohibited to light bonfires, burn municipal solid waste, dry grass, and debris, and use open fire for cooking in special non-combustible containers, with the exception of cafes and restaurants. Failure to comply with these resolution conditions entails administrative liability under Part 2 of Article 20.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation "Violation of fire safety requirements"; fine amounts for citizens and legal entities range from 10 to 800 thousand rubles, respectively.
