In the city's archive department, as part of the national project "Youth and Children", a session of the "School of Young Archivist" was held. Guests included children with foster parents from the Center for Assistance to Family Placement of Children Left Without Parental Care, Preparation and Support of Substitute Families. The event was held on the initiative of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The meeting began with an exhibition of archival documents dedicated to the fiftieth anniversary of the production of the first KAMAZ truck. Then the "river of time" transported the guests to deep antiquity: the exposition introduced them to the history of the city since 1626 in honor of the four hundredth anniversary of the first mention of the settlement. Special attention was paid to the exhibition "We Do Not Abandon Our Own", telling about the help and support of fellow countrymen fulfilling their duty to defend the country.
The archive cinema showed cartoons from the "Istэlэk" project about the labor feat of Tatarstan during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and the construction of KAMAZ. This made it possible to instantly move to the present and compare the changes that have taken place. The guests gladly took part in a quiz on knowledge of the city's streets, learning along the way about the people after whom they are named.
In the repository, participants touched history in the original — they leafed through wartime newspapers and got acquainted with a photo exhibition about the everyday life of the first KAMAZ builders. The guests also tried their hand at being digitizers, working with a scanner.
The participants were captivated by the process: they asked questions and warmly thanked the archive workers for the fascinating tour.
