The treasury of achievements of Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University has gained another major victory. A student of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Arts, Polina Zhigunovskaya, became the winner of a grant of 1 million rubles following the results of the all-Russian competition «Student Startup». This victory became possible thanks to the large-scale system of support for young innovators and the development of student entrepreneurship implemented within the framework of the national project «Youth and Children»
Polina's project promises to become a reliable assistant for engineers, technologists and manufacturers. The essence of the development is simple: a mobile application allows you to scan an ordinary part using a smartphone and instantly obtain its accurate three-dimensional model. At the first stage, it can be immediately sent to a 3D printer to visually check the geometry of the future product without extra costs. At the second stage, the application automatically generates a full working drawing, and the part is ready for serial production on CNC machines. This approach completely eliminates labor-intensive manual measurement, minimizes the risk of errors and saves enterprises hours of working time. The solution will be equally in demand both in small private workshops and at large industrial plants of the city.
Polina herself admits that the idea was on the surface since childhood. «I grew up in an engineer's family: my father constantly worked with drawings, and since childhood I saw how much effort and time goes into routine. That is when I realized: this stage can be automated», — the winner shares. It is worth noting that Polina is a representative of the fourth generation of a dynasty of engineers and builders, yet she is not afraid to break traditions by bringing fresh digital solutions to the profession. The project's scientific supervisor was NSPU teacher Rustem Galiev, whose support, according to the student, played a key role in the success.
Currently, Polina is fully focused on developing the startup. Her plan is ambitious and clear: first, to launch the basic version of the application for building models from photos, and then to make the algorithms more complex so that the program learns to automatically generate drawings ready for industrial production. «I want my startup to become a useful tool for thousands of engineers. So that people spend less time on technical routine and more on creativity», — says Polina about her main goal.
