Participants of the event will learn when the bylinas (epic poems) appeared, what and who they tell about, and will get acquainted with the main characters of the bylinas – Russian bogatyrs. The librarian will tell about the most ancient epic hero – Svyatogor the Bogatyr, about the ploughman-hero Mikula Selyaninovich, and about the most important bogatyrs of Rus – Ilya Muromets, Alyosha Popovich, and Dobrynya Nikitich.
Excerpts from the bylinas will be read aloud, and a "Bylina Experts" quiz will be held.
The famous painting "Bogatyrs" by the remarkable Russian artist Viktor Vasnetsov will also be presented. The event is accompanied by video materials.
