Program "The Epic of Human Suffering"

About the event

Teenagers will get acquainted with the life and work of D. Granin and A. Adamovich and learn the history of the creation of the "Blockade Book". The main themes of their work will be highlighted, and a video of Granin's 2014 speech to deputies and the Chancellor in the German Bundestag about the siege of Leningrad and the war will be shown.

The librarian will talk about the tremendous work done by the authors in recording the memories of people who lived through that terrible time for Leningrad and its residents. Excerpts from the "Blockade Book" will be read to the event participants, and the diary of Yura Ryabinkin – a 16-year-old teenager who survived the horror of the blockade – will be presented. The simple and straightforward stories of Leningrad residents will not leave anyone indifferent. The young people will also be presented with information about monuments dedicated to the besieged Leningrad.

Poems and songs dedicated to this troubled time will be performed at the event. For inquiries, please call: +7 (8552) 56-28-25.
